A domain name is the name or address that people have to type into their web browser to find a website. It's the bit after the www. for example rockmill.co.uk is the domain name for this website and you will see this name in the Address Bar of your web browser above this page.

As well as being the address of your website, a domain name can also be used for your email address. For example, the email address info@rockmill.co.uk is our email address.

Having your own domain name for your website and for your email address improves the image of your business. It gives you a more professional image.

Domain names are not bought outright. They are licenced for a period of time to a legal registrant who then has the right to use that domain name. Rockmill does not register domain names for anybody suspected of what has become know as 'Cybersquatting'. This is sharp practice of registering a domain name that you have no right to with a view to selling.

Rockmill can purchase a domain name on your behalf but you will be the legal registrant. You will never be held to ransom by us. It is yours and you can always move it to another company and we will never charge you for this.
